How did this thing start?

A magical thing happened and the internet united two curious, bumbling bees. We had our first date at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California. We went to a film screening of Looper, a film about time-traveling assassins. Very romantic.

We've been together traveling, singing silly songs, and debating the finer points of hamburgers ever since. And now we're getting married!

How did Travis propose?

After a wonderful dinner at one of their favorite restaurants, Travis asked Karen to join him on a park bench. He presented her with a hand-made geometric walnut ring box. Inside was a ring that he had chosen just for her. Karen thinks Travis was more excited about the box than the ring. She might be right.

Travis asked Karen if she would love him forever and she said “yes.”

Isn't Karen Travis' mom's name?

Yes. It was a little weird at first, but we've gotten over it.

Won't your kids look weird?

You mean because Karen is a tall amazon woman and Travis has those short Tyrannosaurus arms? Nah. We'll have beautiful children.

Where the heck is Winters, California?

It's about an hour north of San Francisco and just a bit east of Napa Valley. Winters has rolling hills, vineyards, prunes, and our wedding.

How's the weather?

Winters weather will likely be sunny and warm in March, with temperatures between 70℉ and 90℉. Dress in layers. If you're adventuring, other parts of the Bay Area can have dramatically different temperatures. Like Mark Twain said, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”

What's there to do?

It's the Bay Area, it's amazing and beautiful. Head to the coast, visit the redwoods, go for a hike, and eat some tacos. Check out the Outside page for many of our favorite spots to eat, be merry, and more.
